“Heroes are everywhere,” exudes Mindy Molinar. The Lake is also a haven for homes. Mindy, a Lake of the Ozarks Realtor, unites the two with the “ Homes for Heroes ” program. This unique offering for military and community honorees results in monetary rewards for real estate transactions and more.
Jason Whittle, broker/owner of RE/MAX Lake of the Ozarks, Jason Whittle All-Pro Team immediately understood the benefits. “When Mindy brought me the Homes for Heroes program I told her we would be honored to be a part of it! It’s a great opportunity to give back to community members at the Lake. She’s the only agent at the Lake who can offer this program. She is truly passionate about it.”
Mindy is indeed the sole agent of this plan in the Lake area, and as a Veteran, she intensely identifies with it. She served in the United States Army from 1998 to 2001 as a 14T Patriot Base Missile Crew member in Ansbach, Germany. She also was in charge of the arms room where she oversaw the storage, maintenance and ordering of a variety of firearms, grenades, mines and launchers. Back stateside, Mindy lived at Fort Bliss, Texas, a number of years before moving to the Lake.
With her keen eye for detail, Mindy easily finds properties for her clients and offers her Hero buyers and sellers a commission reward. She also suggests that they can save more by choosing to also use a Homes for Heroes lender and/or title insurance company.
Homes for Heroes began after 9/11 as a way to give back to those who heroically served. It now exists throughout the nation, awarding nearly $9 million dollars, but Mindy’s giving doesn’t stop there.
In her free time she shows her appreciation to local heroes with baked goods. She is also working with another local Hero participant, volunteers from the VFW and Home Depot to renovate a Lake-area reservist’s home.
Mindy remembers serving well. “I loved the way the uniform felt, the pride!” she says. In transitioning back to civilian life here at the Lake, Mindy is channeling her American patriotism with her career and unique program. Mindy unites homes with honor and savings with those who continue to make America great, our heroes.
WHAT WAS YOUR MILITARY LIFE LIKE?
I loved the way the training and experiences pushed me further than I could ever imagine myself going. I loved driving the HEMTT trucks during night practices.
DID YOU TRAVEL WHILE IN THE SERVICE?
Yes, I enjoyed Venice, Italy and the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Austria was gorgeous.
WHERE DID YOU TRAIN?
My basic training was conducted here in Missouri at Fort Leonard Wood. Next, I trained in El Paso, Texas, before serving in Germany. Then I returned to base in El Paso as I had married and started a family: my son Gage, and daughter Meena.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE LAKE?
I was born in Clinton and grew up in Lincoln, Missouri. My parents live in Warsaw. I wanted my children raised closer to my roots, and the Lake area seemed a logical choice. Family brought me here, but the atmosphere and magnetism kept me here.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
I enjoy time with my children, hiking, being on the water, travel and anything outdoors.
WHAT IS THE MISSION OF HOMES FOR HEROES?
To provide extraordinary savings to local heroes who provide extraordinary services to our community every day.
WHO QUALIFIES FOR THE HEROES DISCOUNTS?
Veterans who have served in the military and others currently serving, plus police officers, firefighters, teachers, EMS and nurses, doctors and clergy can qualify to enjoy the various benefits.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT REAL ESTATE SERVICES?
I find joy in seeing the smiles of my clients the moment I hand them the key to their new home. And with the Hero program I love the look on a hero’s face when they realize people do care about all they do for the community.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS?
I want to excel in the real estate market. I want the Homes for Heroes program to be a catalyst for other businesses to give back to our local heroes and join with me in this wonderful program. I want our heroes to be more valued and appreciated throughout the community.
