WHY DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH THE MARCH OF DIMES? Because our daughter, Kensey, was born 8 weeks prematurely, and it is a fantastic community event to raise both awareness and donations for babies.
DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE AUCTION AND WHY. The Fund the Mission portion where money is donated solely to the mission without receiving anything in return (like an auction item). It’s amazing to see this community come together and give so selflessly.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO WEAR IN THE FALL/WINTER?
Boots and scarves. They’re an easy and fun way to accessorize!

NAME: Dr. Sarah M. Buchananscreen-shot-2016-11-15-at-10-20-46-am
AGE: 43
OCCUPATION: OB/GYN, Central Ozarks Medical Center
CHARITY: Co-Chairman Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary Ball
HOMETOWN: Nevada, Missouri
YEARS AT THE LAKE: 5
WHY DID YOU BECOME AN OB/GYN?
Because I was passionate about delivering babies and caring for women. I have also always liked surgery, and this specialty allows me to do both.
HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO HAVE UPDATED MONITORS FOR THE BIRTHING CENTER?
They would not only improve our care, but also make it possible for families to feel more comfortable having a baby the way they envision it. They would make the experience better for the physician, nurse and family overall.
WHEN NOT IN YOUR SCRUBS, WHAT IS YOUR OUTFIT OF CHOICE?
I put on a pair of jeans, a blouse or top in a bright color or pattern, and a comfy pair of leather slip-on shoes. I love mules and clogs.

Joseph Ribkoff camisole, $127
Joseph Ribkoff pants, $165

OCCUPATION: OB/GYN, Lake Regional Hospital
CHARITY: Co-Chairman Lake Regional
Hospital Auxiliary Ball
HOMETOWN: Lamar, Missouri
YEARS AT THE LAKE: 28
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE MEDICAL FIELD?
I fell in love with the dynamics of meeting a family and helping them achieve the birth of their newest family member! Plus, I loved the surgical aspect of gynecology and its reward of improving the quality of life for each woman.
WHO/WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
My uncle, Dr. Chris Fotopoulos, was a General Surgeon in Osage Beach when the hospital first opened. He was my cornerstone and encourager to believe in myself, and he was the living example of what practicing as a physician was like.
HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO HAVE “BECKY” TIME, AND WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOBBY?
I love my weekend when I am not on call and enjoy quilting and knitting!
