What Made The Lake of the Ozarks What It Is Today?

s a banker, it has been both challenging and rewarding to be involved in the growth of the Lake area. When I moved here in 1976, Lake of the Ozarks was primarily known as a tourism destination. Most of the local businesses were open during the season and shut down for 3 to 6 months of the year. There was no hospital, no mall, no fast food restaurants and many of the roads off Highway 54 were gravel.
