It is still a great time of the year here at the Lake with lots of fun stuff to do, lots of great bands, and during the holidays there is always music in the air. The bars are still hopping and there always are great events going on. You need to stop by Chevy’s on Thursday nights when some of the best local musicians show up to play. They also host some really good bands like Phat Mike and the Bartenders. The stage will be full of great players—you never know who will show up!

For a change of pace you can check out Comedy Night at The Blue Room/City Grill every Wednesday throughout the winter for top name comedians from all over the country. My friends at Wobbly Boots have live music every Saturday night with a great lineup and fine barbecue. It’s a win-win in the winter! You might even see yours truly there some Saturday night.

Let’s not forget the Strip. Casablanca has Cheryl Lynn on Friday nights and Kenny D on Saturdays. I love that place—cozy, comfortable and great people. Bootlegger’s is another winter party place. They always have nice events and live bands on the weekends. You might even see Madd Hoss Jackson show up there!

And if you don’t already, around the holidays is a great time to visit some of our fine area churches. You will hear some of the best talent at the Lake in our local church worship bands. The Rock House in Linn Creek comes to mind; John, Vicky and Katie Shelton are some of the most talented singers you will find. John, the pastor of The Rock House, has put together a wonderful worship program. If you are looking for a great church and want to listen to some awesome singing, you should stop by and see them. Sunday would be a great time! The Rock House is located in Linn Creek next to Tonka Hills Restaurant.

I know every year I talk about Main Street Music Hall’s Christmas Show, because it is one of the most entertaining shows you’ll see around the holidays. My family and I go to Branson just about every year, and we have seen a lot of holiday shows, but you really don’t have to leave the Lake to see one of the best. This year Christmas on Main Street will run November 7 through December 21. Take your whole family—it is a “must-see”!

Let’s talk about some warm weather! The Fort Myers Beach Lake of the Ozarks Party is coming up, so get ready! I know the big shots here at L•O PROFILE want me to talk about what is going on at the Lake, but everyone from the Lake goes to Fort Myers Beach in January for the big party. I think there were about 400 or so who came last year to The Fish House for The Lake of the Ozarks Party. Put it on your calendar! It’s a good time with the Robin and Dean duo along with Don and Suzy Akers doing the show as they have been for a while now. They were kind enough to let me do a couple of hours last year. It’s in the works for another trip down this year, and it’s always the second Tuesday of January, that will be the 13th this year.

I met a great young female singer/songwriter back in October named Karli Chayne who I think you should know about. She did an acoustic show at The Fish and Company on October 5 and packed the place! She had her sister singing with her. What a show!
