Perched on a beautifully wooded lakeside lot in Osage Beach, Missouri, the Roberts residence is a testament to what happens when personal vision meets exceptional craftsmanship. Designed and built by Thomas Construction, with architectural design by Matt Stephens and interior styling by Cindy Herman, this 5,500-square-foot home reflects not just luxury, but a lifestyle centered around family, comfort, and connection to the lake.

With five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, and a wide range of indoor and outdoor living spaces, the home was designed to accommodate large family gatherings, provide space for the grandkids, and welcome their beloved dogs—all without compromising on beauty or functionality.

MAIN LIVING AREA: WARM, OPEN & THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED

At the heart of the home is a spacious, open-concept living room adorned with large custom beams, warm textures, and a stunning stone fireplace. What makes the space truly unique are the dual glass-encased, temperature-controlled wine and bourbon cellars flanking the fireplace.

“Our friends and family all love wine and bourbon—so when we were trying to find a storage solution, Shawn suggested putting it behind the fireplace. It turned out to be
one of our favorite features in the house,” said homeowner Mike Roberts, referring to project manager Shawn Kemper.

The room’s openness invites gathering, while its high-end finishes and clever design details make it feel cozy and elegant all at once. It serves as the perfect central hub that connects effortlessly to both the kitchen and the outdoors.

KITCHEN & DINING: HOSTING MADE EASY, INSIDE AND OUT

From the start, the Roberts family knew their home had to be designed for entertaining. The main kitchen, anchored by a large island and an oversized dining table, provides the perfect setting for hosting friends and family, while also serving as a daily hub for meals and gathering.

Just beyond the kitchen sits a thoughtfully designed bar area, perfectly positioned as a transitional gateway between the indoor kitchen and the outdoor cooking and entertainment spaces. This seamless flow allows for effortless hosting, whether prepping hors d’oeuvres inside or serving cocktails poolside.

“We wanted an open floor plan, but also spaces where people could naturally gather,” noted the Roberts family. “Cindy helped us find a layout that worked beautifully with our large family and entertaining style.”

Designed with both function and fluidity in mind, this combined kitchen-bar-outdoor layout makes it easy to move between spaces while keeping everyone connected and comfortable.

ENTERTAINMENT SPACES: INDOORS & OUT

Few homes blend indoor and outdoor living as seamlessly as this one. Full-width automated sliding glass doors open from the main living space onto a screened-in porch—one of the most cherished spots in the house.

“My husband wanted the big automatic doors that opened to a screened-in porch, and they ran with it. It’s heated and totally comfortable. You feel like you’re outside, but you’re bug-free and cozy. It’s absolutely perfect,” the homeowner said.

Connected to the screened porch is an open patio complete with a large outdoor fireplace, ideal for gathering around in the evenings. From there, the layout flows down to the private pool and outdoor lounge area, all overlooking the lake.

The outdoor zones were intentionally designed to offer a variety of experiences—from shaded relaxation to full sun by the pool—all with water views and easy access back into the home.

MAIN-LEVEL AMENITIES: FITNESS, FUNCTION, AND FUN IN THE SUN

The main level of the home continues the trend of elevated comfort with standout features that take this home to the next level. A dedicated exercise room offers lake views and enough space for everything from yoga mats to weights and cardio equipment.

Positioned to maximize views of the lake, the pool area is seamlessly connected to the main outdoor living space, creating a continuous flow ideal for entertaining or enjoying quiet afternoons in the sun.

With access from the lake, the custom dog washroom is both practical and charming. Complete with custom tile, storage, and plumbing, it’s the kind of thoughtful touch dog owners truly appreciate.

MASTER SUITE: PRIVATE, PRACTICAL & PET-FRIENDLY

The master suite sits in its own wing of the home, offering privacy and convenience. In addition to a peaceful sleeping space and an attached office—ideal for working remotely or managing household tasks—the suite features a spa-inspired bathroom with a walk-in shower flooded with natural light.

As devoted dog owners, the Roberts family ensured their pets were just as comfortable. A private dog door in the master bedroom leads out to a patio and fenced yard, giving their pups freedom and fresh air without hassle.

“The worst part about coming to the lake used to be leaving our dogs at home,” they said. “Now, we don’t have to. Everything was designed with them in mind—and it works perfectly for our family.”

THE GRANDKIDS’ ZONE: BUNK ROOM & LOUNGE

Upstairs, three additional ensuite bedrooms and a custom-built bunk room give the grandchildren and guests their own space to relax and play. The bunk room features built-in bunks, a TV lounge area, and enough floor space for games, toys, and movie nights.

“We wanted a space where the grandkids could have fun and feel at home, while still giving the adults space to gather downstairs. The upstairs turned out even better than we imagined.”

It’s fun, functional, and tucked away just enough to offer privacy for all generations under the same roof.

NATURAL MATERIALS, LASTING STYLE

The exterior of the home features a board-and-batten design and is wrapped in a combination of natural stone, synthetic shake asphalt shingles, and metal roofing—each chosen for both visual impact and long-term durability.

Inside, finishes were selected for their blend of timeless beauty and livability. Warm neutrals, natural wood tones, and stone accents ground the home in its surroundings, while contemporary fixtures and layouts keep it fresh.

The interior design by Cindy Herman reflects both luxury and functionality, with a cohesive palette that flows room to room while allowing each space to have its own identity.

THE DESIGN-BUILD EXPERIENCE WITH THOMAS CONSTRUCTION

For the Roberts family, building this home was more than a project—it was a deeply personal experience, made possible by a team who listened, advised, and brought their vision to life.

“Matt, Shawn, and Roger all had great suggestions on how to make our house exactly what we wanted,” the homeowner shared. “They were creative, responsive, and always willing to explore options.”

“We could not have had a better team, and we are very grateful for each and every one of them.”

A LAKE LEGACY, BUILT FOR LIFE

The Roberts residence is a shining example of what’s possible when a design-build team works in harmony with their clients. Every room, finish, and feature tells a story—not just of craftsmanship, but of intention.

This home was built for more than weekends. It was built for memories, for family, for joy. And for the Roberts family, it’s everything they hoped it would be.
